Commissioner King frames the opportunities for educators to work with and apply The Common Core State Standards to help ensure students’ successful content mastery in mathematics and multiple areas of study. He encourages educators to begin this process by becoming fully informed on areas of focus and fluencies suggested by the Common Core, and then implementing these strategies in the coming 2011-12 school year.

This is just one way of conducting professional development around this video. We encourage you to use this opportunity to share your ideas and experiences. We apologize for the difficulty that some districts have had accessing our videos on Vimeo.com. Although we are unable to host the videos on our own website, we have placed the video files on our server so you may download them.

For instance, if you go to the “Back to School Message for Educators” video at
http://engageny.org/resource/back-to-school-message-for-educators/ and click “Download this video” you should be able to download the video from our server. We have included this option for all videos on EngageNY. We hope this option works for you!

With the adoption of Race to the Top, school district leadership will need to adjust their current trajectory and redirect resources to a new set of priorities quickly and efficiently. Chenango Forks Central School District provides a model of planning dexterity that other school districts may want to emulate.
